Setting aside a little “me time” can be a challenge with all of life’s responsibilities. But it’s absolutely essential for a healthy mind and body. One of the worst things any woman can do is neglect herself for the sake of others. If you don’t care for yourself first, there’s no way you can care for someone else. And sometimes that means taking 30 minutes out of your day to do a little centering. Though it may be hard to relax and take the time for yourself, the rewards you’ll reap from doing so will be bountiful and beneficial to your spouse and family. Here are some ideas to get you started.

11 Relaxing Things You Can Do in 30 Minutes or Less

  1. Get a Manicure (Or give one to yourself) – Taking care of yourself, even with a quick manicure, can make you feel relaxed and pampered. If you can’t make it to the salon, try giving yourself a quick polish change at home. You’ll feel more put together when you’re done.
  2. Go for a Run – Even if you can’t spare an hour to work in some exercise, going for a short, 30-minute run can help you feel incredibly recharged. Try making your way to a nearby park or heading out for a few blocks in your neighborhood.
  3. Watch Your Favorite TV Show – If you just want to zone out for a little bit, try recording your favorite TV show and watching it when you have some time to yourself. This is a guilt-free exercise, so feel free to indulge in anything you like!
  4. Go Window Shopping – Even if you’re on a budget, going out and looking at what’s new in stores will keep you current and may inspire you to create new outfits with what you already own. Plus, it will take your mind off all your responsibilities for a while as you daydream.
  5. Take a Quick Online Yoga Class – If you can’t make it out to a class, try doing yoga at home. There are several great sequences you can do in the comfort of your living room in less than a half hour. You can also try yoga at your desk.
  6. Meditate – This is such a wonderful practice for starting and ending the day peacefully. Gain some perspective in comfortable clothes, even if it’s just for 15 minutes. Here’s a guide to get you started.
  7. Read a Book – Few things help us disconnect and take us to a whole new world than our favorite books. Take in a chapter or two, even if you’re on break at the office, and get re-inspired for the rest of the day.
  8. Take a Short Nap – If you’re feeling like you need some rest and coffee isn’t doing the trick, take a nap for 15 or 30 minutes. You’ll feel refreshed even with this short snooze.
  9. Go for a Walk – Getting out of your regular scene and taking in some fresh air can do absolute wonders for stress. Even if it’s just for a few blocks, take a walk – and try to stay off your phone during this small period of relaxation.
  10. Look Through a Magazine – Flip through your favorite glossy, read a few articles, catch up on news and trends, and see what a difference it makes in your day.
  11. Have a Cup of Tea with a Friend – Try scheduling some time with friends, doing small but meaningful activities to help you re-connect.
