Having a work/life balance is important. It’s the only way to make it through a busy schedule and jam packed days without feeling totally overloaded – and sometimes that means you have to keep work/social life separate. From making time for old friends to necessary moments away from the office chatter, having a little separation can go a long way. Check out these tips for finding a way to keep it all in check while having your work and social life stay separate.
5 Ways to Try and Keep Work and Social Life Separate
- Try to leave work at the office. That’s easier said than done, I know! But if you have to bring it home, find a spot that can be a “work zone” so that it doesn’t interfere with all aspects of your home life.
- Plan enriching activities outside of work. Having something to look forward to on the weekends will help encourage getting everything accomplished during the week.
- Set limitations for phone and email use at home. It’s totally understandable if you need to check your email over the weekend, but give yourself a time limit.
- Stick to a schedule. Try to establish a work schedule that will help you accomplish everything on your to-do list while you’re actually at the office.
- Spend time with non-work friends and family on your off time. Having the chance to talk about other things besides work feels refreshing and relaxing – so make that a priority.
