It happens to all of us at one time or another. You’re working too many hours on a big project or you’re simply understaffed – burnout at your job definitely happens. You may need a vacation, but you might also need to make a change. While you may not be able to get your boss to change your hours or hire more staff, you can avoid burnout at work by taking your own steps to dial back the stress. Here’s my advice on how to avoid burnout at work.
7 Ways to Avoid Burnout At Work
- Learn how to manage your supervisor, just like you manage your staff. Meet his or her expectations in a way that also keeps you calm.
- Change your expectations. It’s ok to give yourself a little bit of a break every once in a while.
- Take mini breaks throughout the day.
- Forget about everyone else – compare yourself only to you.
- Get some non-work hobbies and interests. Spend time focused on things other than work.
- Be ok with saying “No”. You cannot do it all, all of the time.
- Take your vacation days – and actually leave work at work.
