There are so many alternatives to conventional cleaning products and you can probably find most of them around your own home. Here are eight easy cleaning solutions that will last longer than most cleaners and save you a ton of money.
8 Natural Cleaning Products for Your Home
Oranges – Combine orange peels, distilled white vinegar, and water in an air-tight jar and wait for two weeks to allow the ingredients to combine. Then pour the liquid into a spray bottle and use as an all-purpose cleaner.
Vinegar – Combine vinegar with salt to get rid of tough stains in your dishes. Or use a cup of hot white distilled vinegar to clean your drain after pouring in one cup of baking soda.
Lemon – Use lemon juice to clean the grout between tiles by scrubbing with an old toothbrush. Dilute some lemon juice in a spray bottle to use as a tile and countertop cleaner that will smell incredible. Or for a quick de-greasing solution, add some lemon juice to your dish soap.
Baking Soda – To clean your toilet or tub and get rid of hard water stains, sprinkle baking soda on the affected area and let sit for 30 minutes. Follow by spraying with vinegar and scrubbing until clean. Rinse with clean water.
Lavender – Take advantage of lavender’s natural disinfectant properties. Combine a few drops of essential lavender oil with vinegar and water for a powerful glass and tile cleaner. You can also add a few drops of essential oil to cotton balls and place them around the house to ward off insects.
Eucalyptus Oil – Add two capfuls of eucalyptus oil to a bucket of hot water to use on dirty floors. Add a little vinegar for particularly tough stains. (You should stay away from it if you’re pregnant, though.)
Olive Oil – Olive oil is a great wood polisher. Combine with a few drops of lemon and apply it to a soft cloth to bring out a natural shine in wood furniture.
Salt – Use salt as an abrasive cleaner. Combine it with lemon juice to scrub caked-on food. Or use it to shine steel and silver by combining equal parts of salt, flour and vinegar – apply with a soft cloth.
