Although I love spending my summers in New York City, there is one event that makes me miss the Magic City during the warm months, and that’s Miami Fashion Week Swim. This past weekend, the four-day event had hotels like The Setai, The Raleigh and W South Beach swarmed with celebs, fashion designers, buyers and spectators looking to get a glance of the swim trends expected to flood stores in 2011. But unfortunately, when you’re an entrepreneur you can’t always be everywhere. Instead, I duplicated myself! Duplicating is a little trick I learned from JR. Click here if you, too, need a double. So while I wasn’t physically attending the shows, I felt like I was since both Loren Jewels and Motives were representing on several runways. And of course, my “doubles,” A.K.A. my Market America girls, made sure to give me the play-by-play via text and Twitter.

Who better to kick-off a sexy swimsuit event than The Kardashian Sisters? My dear friends Kim, Khloé and Kourtney debuted their new line, Kardashians for Beach Bunny Swimwear, on Friday night at The Raleigh. I heard the fashion tent was completely packed with photographers and onlookers just waiting to catch a glimpse of their much-anticipated line. The show and the line was undoubtedly a hit (see the pictures for yourself!). And I can’t forget to mention how stunning Kim, Khloé and Kourtney looked as they sat front row—wearing Loren Jewels, of course.

Motives was, also, out-and-about at shows for brands like Inca, Roberto Cavalli, Paula Herbert and Betsey Johnson. Our resident makeup artist, Aileen Quintana, and her team were working their magic. And after seeing the pictures, I had to ask Aileen for some backstage tips and tricks to share with my readers
(model backstage at the Betsey Johnson Fashion Show wearing Motives cosmetics by Loren Ridinger)*To elongate legs Aileen used Motives’ loose mineral bronzer to shape them in a flattering way. She highlighted the shin, kneecap and thigh with one straight line. You can also use this trick for your arms.
*For the Roberto Cavalli show, Aileen gave the traditional smoky eye a softer look by adding Motives’ lime light pressed eye shadow at the baseline of the eye (like an eyeliner). Perfect for a tropical outing.
*In order to disguise some of the models’ yellow teeth, Aileen used Motives’ passion lip crayon to line the lips and fill them in. The purple undertones in passion brings out the white in teeth. She completed the natural look with Motives’
flesh lipstick.
How’s that for a backstage pass? Do you have any tips you want to share with me? send me a note on twitter @lorenridinger or leave me a comment!
