Few things inspire me as much as learning about women who pave their own way in life. They may have chosen a different path, industry, or method than I would have, but the will to have a successful life on their own terms always resonates with my hopes to make strides in what’s often a very male-driven industry. Which is why I enjoy looking at other female trailblazers to see how they carved their path to success and what they did when doors were slammed in their face or rejection and negativity were thrust at them (sometimes simply because of their gender). If we don’t learn from each other’s mistakes (and cheer other on, while we’re at it!), we’re really missing out.
Though this may be a bit of an unconventional list, there’s hardly a better way to get inspired about starting your own business than reading about women who paved their own way in their industries. This list varies from comedians, to fashion industry moguls, spiritual leaders, and, of course, the more traditional business types. But what they all have in common is that they were brave enough to set out on their own to leave their mark on the world in whichever way best fit them – and that’s what entrepreneurship is really about. If you’re ready to take a path that leads to your own success, I hope you’ll be inspired by these six others who ventured out, took a risk, and left their name on a list of ladies who cannot be ignored. Here are six current books every aspiring female entrepreneur should pick up and take note.
