You know those days when
you’re in a rut and can’t seem to figure out which way to go? Even finding a
solution is a difficult task. And then you find yourself asking the universe,
“What do I do?” Well, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. What you can
do is make a choice. That choice is between staying in that rut, nowhere-to-go
place and being happy.
How can choosing happiness
be the universal answer to every problem? It might not be a very specific
solution, but it’s the start to finding the answer. Deciding that you will not
settle for less than happiness will lead you to find resolutions to your
problems. Let’s say you hate your job lately. Instead of wasting energy on
complaining, which ultimately leads to misery, tell yourself, “I don’t want to
hate my job. I want to be happy.” There you go! You just took one step closer
to resolving the issue. From there, ask yourself what will make you happy when
it comes to work. Maybe it’s a more flexible schedule, or more money? Each
choice is like a piece of the puzzle that will help you complete your goal.
Focus on one piece at a time.
When you’re stuck in a
negative routine and can’t find your way out making the choice to be happy not
only offers a solution, but also aids you in letting go of that helpless
feeling. The feeling of not being able to defend oneself can be remedied with a
little boost of confidence. When you make a decision to go one way or the
other—and you know it’s the right choice—you suddenly feel in control and that
helpless feeling goes away. And who doesn’t want to be happy?
Happy people are
contagious. So if you give off that bright light, I guarantee you people will
want to be around you. That means people will want to collaborate with you,
help you, and even buy whatever it is you’re selling. Choosing happiness will
change your life!
I understand happiness is
not always an easy choice. Some of us are programmed to think being happy is a
selfish choice. The thought of being happy is scary to some of us because it’s
a feeling we are not comfortable with, or a state of being we feel we do not
deserve. Well, I’m telling you right now: HAPPINESS IS YOUR BIRTH RITE. Maybe
your happiness muscle is a little weak? That doesn’t mean you can’t make it
strong?
Choose happiness today.
Then start making little steps towards something that makes you happy. If
you’re not sure what makes you happy, start by making a list of the things that
do—shopping, ice cream, sunny days. It’s an exercise that will help you
identify the feeling of happiness. And don’t forget to smile!
