Being an entrepreneur and in the public means you have to be prepared to answer interviews and questions from your fans. Quite often I receive the same question: ” Describe yourself in 3 words.” This question has always been somewhat of a challenge for me since I feel I have so much to offer and people often say I have too much personality. The thought of answering this question makes me a little nervous because I want to make sure I’m able to express and describe who I am as a mother, wife, friend, sister & entrepreneur in just 3 words. Exactly! These three words are your inner dictum, your principle with which you conduct yourself in. Your mission statement.
I have found this question so daring that I often ask it to potential candidates for a job interview. You would be surprised of the answers I receive! Some people give me 4-5 words or an entire paragraph, because they can’t seem to find three words to describe them. I always found it interesting that the less material we have to work with the more resourceful we must be in order to execute properly. Three words can be a challenge to describe yourself especially if you have personality like me. Whether you call it a slogan, a motto, or a mission statement the idea is to use the advantage of constraints to capture ‘you’ and all of you that you stand for in as few words as possible.
By constructing ourselves and experiences all in one single sentences it will allow us to embrace our aspirations, values, passion and purpose. All of these point of views will motivate us. They shape who we are, the way we live, the choices we make, and the paths we follow. It is extremely important to always know who you are and where you’re going. This mission statement or ‘3 words’ that best describe you will help define your journey and what you represent.
If you had the chance to describe yourself in 3 words what would they be?
