Happy birthday to my precious princess Ayva. My beautiful granddaughter celebrated her second birthday recently, so our family helped her honor the occasion with a magic princess dress-up party over the weekend. The fairy tale setting was complete with castle backdrop, character performances, and even accessories fit for grown-up princesses to don for photos (check me out with Mary Floyd below!). Which got me thinking – how exactly do we lose that sense of wonder? And how do we get it back?
One of the major themes from my presentation at World Conference in Miami recently was about dreaming big. And that’s because it’s crucial. When we’re kids, we’re told to dream big all the time. I hear it all the time when I’m spending time watching TV with Ayva and her favorite princess commercial comes on. They tell her to “dream big, princess” because this is still a time when anything is possible for our little ones.
But what about us? What about the ones who are already grown and have forgotten how to dream? I always tell those who will listen that you can’t have a positive life without a positive mind. And it’s so true. When we dream big, big things happen. And I don’t just mean in the fairy tale fantasy sense. If you can stop listening to what everybody else is telling you can or cannot be accomplished, and start once again listening to your inner dreamer, I guarantee you things will start to look a lot different.
It’s great to have a reminder of that now and then. And this past weekend, spending time with my little princess Ayva, nothing could have been clearer. I hope you find that this rings true for you, too. Dream big. xo
