Sometimes the feminist cause seems like it should be common sense. Feminism is just about equal rights. It’s about being treated equally, and it doesn’t stop with women. It’s about everyone. I love being a feminist for this reason. Female empowerment is important to me, which is why I wanted to bring you this post today. Feel inspired by reading these quotes said by famous women. They’re deep, wise and make absolute sense. Read on and let me know what you think in the comments section at the bottom of the post. Why do you consider yourself a feminist?
“There never will be complete equality until women themselves help to make laws and elect lawmakers.” ?—Susan B. Anthony
“We stand now where two roads diverge. But unlike the roads in Robert Frost’s familiar poem, they are not equally fair. The road we have long been traveling is deceptively easy, a smooth superhighway on which we progress with great speed, but at its end lies disaster. The other fork of the road—the one “less traveled by”—offers our last, our only chance to reach a destination that assures the preservation of the earth.” ?— Rachel Carson
“Remember no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” ?—Eleanor Roosevelt
“In my heart, I think a woman has two choices: either she’s a feminist or a masochist.” ?—Gloria Steinem
“It’s so clear that you have to cherish everyone. I think that’s what I get from these older black women, that every soul is to be cherished, that every flower is to bloom.” ?—Alice Walker
“As a woman I have no country. As a woman my country is the whole world.” —Virginia Woolf
“Here’s my feeling: For everyone, men and women, it’s important to be a feminist. It’s important to have female characters. It’s wonderful for women to mentor other women, but it’s just as important for women to mentor men and vice-versa. In my line of work, having Greg Daniels be such a great mentor to me is fantastic. Finding a writer’s assistant, be it a man or a woman, and encouraging them to think with a feminist perspective, is key.” —Mindy Kaling
