We’re in the middle of the holiday rush, and it feels like
we can’t possibly have enough time. While we’re out buying gifts and shopping
for our dinners, it’s also important to remember to give a little. I know time
is an issue here, but there are easy ways to give back to local and national
causes. Here’s a quick guide for giving back this holiday season.
- Shop and give:
Most of the stores you’re visiting
are either donating proceeds to a charity or give you the opportunity to make a
donation. For example, Barnes and Noble is hosting a book drive and Macy’s
Believe program, which benefits Make-a-Wish foundation. Both of which are
MarketAmerica Shop Partners, by the way!
- Check in with your children’s school or local church:
Most of the times your children’s
school will be hosting some sort of food or toy drive. What’s easier than
checking in with the front office?
- Use social media:
Check your Facebook events. By now,
a friend has probably invited you to a holiday event that benefits some
organization.
- At the workplace:
Lately, a lot of companies have
opted to not have a holiday party and instead give that money to a local
charity. Check in with your company to see if they would consider this. And if
you’re the boss, ask your employees if they’d prefer this program over a party.
- National charities:
If all else fails, you can always
check in with big national organizations like Toys for Tots and Feeding
America. They’ll most probably have a program near your home.
