The Pros and Cons of Working From Home

Pros

  • You can have total quiet to focus on your work and getting it done.
  • You don’t have to spend lots of time getting ready and looking gorgeous in the morning. In fact, you can roll out of bed and get right to work if you want to.
  • There’s no commute! You can spend that time getting ahead on your work.
  • You can spend your lunch hour taking your dog on a walk or vacuuming your house – it’s quite convenient!

Con’s

  • You have totally different distractions than you do at the office. From kids to pets to the tv, you have to be sure you have a quiet place to focus on work.
  • Your communication with your team is limited to phone and video chats. There’s a lot less in-person one on one time.
  • There’s a chance of losing your competitive edge. You have to set goals for yourself – both professionally and personally – to stay on track and on target.
  • You have less face-time at the office. Since you aren’t there, you have to be sure your excellent work represents you well, giving you the credit you need to advance.

So, after considering all the pro’s and con’s of working from home, what do you think? Is working from home right for you?
