Honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. is one of those things that comes along every year and makes you think twice about life, the state of the world and who we all are as human beings. It never fails to hit me harder than the previous year. I think of all my friends: young and old; tall and short; all colors of the rainbow, speaking more languages than I can count and from backgrounds so widespread, I’ll never know every story about everyone.
But here we are in the year 2017, friends. I have never been one to think about people’s differences, but more about what we have in common, how we build friendships and make our relationships strong – and, that’s why the equality that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. fought so hard for becomes more meaningful to me with each passing year.
Here’s to the people who keep his spirit alive. Here’s the ones that continue to stand up for peace. Here’s to all of us who love unconditionally beyond the color of anyone’s skin. Let’s honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as though he was still standing before us today with a handful of his famous quotes to get your mind working and your heart full.
