How does that quote go? Oh right, “to be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, to be late is to be forgotten.” I live by this quote. Why? Because time is a precious thing. The only thing we have is time and it’s a shame to waste it. Being late is a disregard to someone else’s time, and hello, that’s just rude. It’s time to be more punctual. If you’re wondering how I do it, read on. I’ve got some tips on how to be punctual even if you aren’t below.
Admit to Always Being Late- The first step is admitting you have a problem. Sometimes, it’s difficult to realize that the problem is you. It’s not cute or adorable anymore. Your habit is actually starting to make you seem more selfish than anything else. Realize that your lateness is the problem and decide whether or not you want to change it.
Believe that Change is Possible- How many times have you tried to be on time and failed. The problem could do with your thinking patterns. If you’re the type who believes that change isn’t possible, then change won’t happen. What you believe, you attract, so change your belief. Show yourself the benefits of changing your nasty habit. Feel more motivated to change, and you’ll be one step closer to being more punctual.
Give Yourself Some Time- Instead of trying to get to your destination right on time, give yourself an extra twenty minutes. Aim to arrive early rather than on time in case you have to account for a few unforeseen circumstances (parking lot is full, traffic is crazy, etc.). It could save you in the long run.
Plan Ahead- Be more organized about your social and work obligations. Plan ahead. Know what you’re going to wear the day before. If you think the train will be late or there’ll be traffic on your usual route, plan around these things ahead of time. You’ve got this!
