It’s a new year and your company is looking to make changes and you’re now laid-off from your job. What do you do? Where do you go? How do you face this challenge just as the year has started? Dealing with a job loss isn’t fun, especially if it’s one you were satisfied with. Don’t fret getting laid off isn’t fun, but look at it this way, it’s a sign that there’s something out there better waiting for you. If you recently lost your job or got laid off from work here’s a couple of things to do to get you back on your feet as quickly as possible.
How To Deal With A Job Loss
- Network! Network! Network! Reach out to friends and family, attend a couple of happy-hour networking events, browse through social networks and don’t be afraid to ask around for any possible opportunities.
- Post your resume on LinkedIn: LinkedIn is one of the best tools for employers and employees. I found so many talented employers for our company Market America through LinkedIn. Put yourself out, network with others within your related fields and follow up.
- Freelance: It might take some time to get that job you’re looking for so in the meantime freelance. There’s so many great opportunities as a freelancer, whether is blogging for others, helping a friend walk the dogs, becoming a part-time tutor or social media writer. The possibilities are endless.
- Be persistent: Don’t just wait for the job to come to you; you have to make it happen. Follow up, check with others, and put yourself out there. If you don’t ask, you won’t know.
- Staying busy will keep you motivated: Keep your same daily schedule and don’t get lazy. Being disciplined and staying positive is part of the process.
