How to Find Inspiration When You Don’t Have Any

Inspirational Blogs

Getting ahead in business and achieving personal and professional goals requires keeping a fresh mind full of interesting, innovative, and unique ideas. But what happens when those ideas just don’t come? No matter how much creative momentum you may have, every now and then, we all hit a bit of a slump. So how do you cure a lack of inspiration? What do you do when the spark just isn’t there at the moment? Well, the answers may be simple. But often times, simplicity is best. Read ahead for some of the techniques I use whenever I feel the need to channel some inspiration.

How to Find Inspiration When You Don’t Have Any

  • Take a break – Sometimes, exhaustion just hits and our creative channels begin to feel drained. Take a break, give your mind a few minutes to play rather than work, and see if that helps you feel refreshed.
  • Focus on something else – When you’re too closely focused on the task at hand, you may not see it as clearly as someone who has a set of fresh eyes. Even if you can’t get a second opinion, step away and focus on something else, allowing your mind a distraction.
  • Go outside – A change of scenery can do wonders for motivation and inspiration. Look at things a little differently by getting out of your usual
  • Be present – Be completely present in the current moment and stop thinking about the problem you’re trying to solve or the answer you seek. Instead, focus on the mundane little details of what you’re doing (i.e. walking your dog and noticing the trees and grass, washing your dishes and looking at the sponge and soap). When you allow your mind to be focused on the present, it will often surprise you with inspiring solutions to what ails you.
  • Take a walk – Get some fresh air and take a short walk, or get in a quick exercise class or run. Getting your endorphins flowing will do you a world of good both physically, for stress, and for creativity. Your mind will likely wander and come up with some great, creative solutions.
  • Sleep on it – Going over the same thing time and time again won’t offer any new insight. Chances are, it’ll only frustrate you  and diminish the possibility of finding inspiration. Instead, give it some time and sleep on it if you must. Sometimes the answers comes when we least expect them, such as in dreams.
  • Play some music – Play some music, let loose, and even do a little dance if you need to. The idea is to loosen up and not be so wound up all the time, something that will definitely stifle and creative inspiration. When in doubt, just blow off a little steam and see how it will, at the very least, boost your mood.
