Yesterday, Interview Magazine released their telling interview with Kylie Jenner. The 18-year-old had a lot of honest things to say about her struggles with anxiety. The reality star and half sister to the Kardashian clan admitted, “I wake up every morning with the worst anxiety. I don’t know why.” – via
Kylie isn’t alone. About 40 million adults in the US suffer from anxiety. It’s one of the most common mental illnesses and it can be debilitating, which is why I wanted to write this post today.
Sure, many of us could try meditation or meditative practices to combat those anxious feelings, but there are plenty of other things you can do to help get rid of your anxious feelings. Read on to learn more,
Exercise- Oh boy, I must sound like a broken record to some of you. I know, exercise is my go-to remedy for almost everything, but seriously! Exercise helps with your emotions in the long run. With regular exercise, everything in your life seems to come together. Your mood is improved, you sleep more soundly and you let go of stress. Even just a ten to fifteen minute walk can help to relax you get make you feel less anxious.
Get Off Social Media- Limit your social media use. It’s been proven that seeing all those perfectly posed pictures on Instagram (which are fake, by the way), make you depressed. They cause anxiety because they give us the sense that we aren’t living our lives the way we should.
Get to the Root of the Problem- Having social anxiety could be a fear of not being accepted. Feeling anxious about money stability could mean that you’re worrying about the future. Think about your problems and let them go. Sometimes it’s best to be present and enjoy the moment for what it is.
