There’s a lot of talk about self- love these days. If you’re anything like me you’re probably questioning: “what is it and how can I start right now?” Self-love is the idea that we deserve to love ourselves just as we are, weight gain, odd hair dye job and all! It’s the idea that we love ourselves in the here and now! Sounds amazing, right? I know! So how do we start practicing? Here are some easy ways to start practicing self-love right now! Just Say It- Affirmations are a great way to kick start your self-love journey. Repeat that you are worthy of love over and over again. Look at yourself in a mirror and tell yourself that you love—well, you. There might be a voice at the back of your head saying that you’re a liar, but eventually that voice will fall to the wayside and you will feel that love.
Do Something You Love- If you love to write, then write something. Read your favorite poem. If you’re like me then spend some time doing your makeup and dressing yourself up. If you don’t know what you love, think back to your childhood! What did you like as a kid? Did you like to dress up and perform plays or did you like to quietly draw in your bedroom.
Exercise- Show your body some love by working out. It doesn’t have to be the same old gym workout! Change it up. Go out for a jog in a park you’ve never been to. Dance around in your undies for fifteen minutes. Do something to make you feel good. Exercise tells your body that you love it and you want to take care of it!
