Twenty years ago my husband JR and I took on a powerful idea our business Market America. Not knowing what the outcome would be we encouraged each other and took on the biggest risk of all, the fear of failing. Without looking back we began our journey, overcame obstacles, tuned out the negative voices and kept trying over and over until we got it right. No matter what position you are in life, having the right team that will encourage one another is critical especially when you are your own boss. 5 IDEAS TO ENCOURAGE RISK TAKING EVEN AFTER YOU FAIL
- Dream big. There’s no dream that’s too small or too big. Working your way to the top isn’t easy, but just remember that many of the best entrepreneurs started at the bottoms. Encourage yourself to come up with ten ideas each week even if you think they’re wacky try them, expand your horizons and if they fail try again.
- Record your failures. Knowing what you’re doing wrong to perfect to do it right is just part of being an entrepreneur.
- Find a soul mate, business partner, advisor or mentor. My husband has taught me everything he knows. Not only is he my soul mate but he has become my business partner and together we work as a team allowing both of our creativity to flow with each other.
- Celebrate your failure. Just because what you did failed doesn’t mean you actually failed. You only fail when you give up. Go ahead restrategize your thoughts and try again.
- Create prototypes. There’s nothing wrong with creating prototypes, wire frames, business plans or even mapping out your ideas.
