Losing someone you love is, without a doubt, the toughest part of living. Thinking back on the beautiful times you shared with that person is important. Learning to remember their spirit in the best light will help you keep them alive in your heart, but no matter what, the reality of losing someone you love is that it will always be loss. And loss will always be tough.
When your grandparents or older relatives age, you can look back and remember they lived a long life. When you lose someone younger, the reality can be even more of a shock. Keeping their memory alive is important. No matter who you are, loss is loss, and it hurts. Watching others deal with loss is sometimes easier to understand – you can be their shoulder to cry on, you can help by offering caring words. Dealing with your own loss is a different process. No matter how you try to get ready, nothing can really prepare you for facing the reality of losing someone you love.
Dealing with loss is a very tough reality. We are left with a hole in our lives and in our heart – and even though life goes on, life without that person may never be the same. I often look up at the stars and remind myself that the people who I have lost are looking down and shining light on me from above. But, regardless, I still miss them every day.
Do you have any special ways of facing the reality of losing someone you love?
