How to Make Dad Feel Extra Special for Father’s Day

Make it a no-pressure day. The ultimate Father’s Day for many dads means no plans, no schedule and zero commitments. Just a day to hang together as a family, fire up the grill and relax. Let him sleep in and great him with a great homemade breakfast. Other than that, keep it chill.

Tell him how much you love him and why. There’s nothing more important on Father’s Day than recognizing dad for all the ways he supports the family. Remember to tell him exactly what it is you appreciate about him – from his funny jokes to the way he reads bedtime stories at night. No matter what, this day is about showing dad just how much you care.

Let him choose what he wants to do. How often does dad get to pick all the activities and meals in a day? Hardly ever, right? So let him set the tone. If he wants to go to the movies, go for it. If his idea of a good time means hot dogs on the grill, great! Maybe he wants to take a walk or a drive, go with him – but let it be his choice.

Give him a great gift. It doesn’t have to be expensive – in fact homemade is the best – washing his car or cleaning out the garage are probably two of the greatest gifts you can offer. Make him a special card to let him know just how much he’s loved or even plant him a veggie garden in the backyard. Take some time to be thoughtful about what you’re giving him – he’ll love it, no matter what.

Make him his favorite meal or treat. Depending on his favorites, whipping up something he loves will mean a lot to dad, so go for it. Does he love homemade brownies or cookies? Is his favorite meal spaghetti? Whatever it is, make the one thing dad loves – just for him.

What do you think? Are you ready to make dad’s day super special this year?
