It’s been pretty fun and exciting to see Soleil Moon Frye in the news recently (remember…Punky Brewster!) for her incredible support of all the Momtrepreneurs out there. Soleil is known these days not for her antics as the funky, Punky Brewster, but for her awesome Parenting blog, Moonfrye. The blog offers a creative approach to parenting and loads of ingenious ways to have fun with your family.
From art projects to games and outings, the latest creation Soleil has added to Moonfrye’s repertoire is a family-friendly photo app, designed for getting creative together. Released just a few short months ago, the Moonfrye app is “like the web 3.0 version of those goofy photo booths frequently seen at sweet 16 parties and bar mitzvahs. Families can take photos together, then enhance them with a variety of different themes – “circus,” “mermaids,” even a totally rad ’80s background. (Naturally, says Frye, she’s still “obsessed” with the ’80s.) After decorating the photos further with stickers and text, they can be printed or shared via social channels.” (via Entertainment Weekly)
Not only has Soleil been bringing her entrepreneurial spirit to the app world, she’s been sharing her story and answering questions for all the aspiring Momtrepreneurs around the world. Just recently, she worked with TODAY Parents to host a Facebook chat answering questions and offering advice about starting a business. How inspiring!
Believe it or not there’s a whole group of Momtrepreneurs out there – just killing it in the business world – taking a good idea and making it great. From learning about the process of getting a business off the ground, to taking it to the next level: raising capital, building a team and making the sales – Momtrepreneurs are really making it happen.
Take Small Batch Studio, for example. Founded by Momtrepreneur Laura Magu, this successful company got its start selling the Push Pack, a pre-packed hospital bag filled with the “little” things a new mom would want or need.
How about Tori Spelling who turned a successful acting career into a Momtrepreneur dream with her clothing line, Little Maven.
Momtrepreneur Ashita Trikah is the co-founder of Slidelane, which later merged with Mommy Nearest to offer a mobile community for parents and caregivers around the U.S.
Or Jessica Alba, co-founder of The Honest Company, which sells non-toxic household products and baby goods.
And, last – but certainly not least – Amber Ridinger McLaughlin, who drives DNA Miracles, body and wellness products designed for babies, children and expectant moms-to-be.
This is just a glimpse at the awesome Momtrepreneurs out there paving the way for moms everywhere. Do you know any Momtrepreneurs? How have they been paving the way to success?
