Monday is back again, and it seems to always get here so quickly! No matter what, the weekend always seems to fly by. And, although I love getting back into my weekly routine, Monday mornings are always the most difficult when it comes to finding that motivation to get back in the swing of things.

So what can we do to kick-start our enthusiasm for the week? And how can we turn the Monday morning blues into something totally positive? Here’s a look at five ideas to get your Monday off to the right start and hopefully stop hitting that snooze button.

Monday Motivation: 5 Things to Do for Yourself Today

#1. Start Monday with a great workout. You know, even though it’s tough to get up early on Monday mornings, starting the day off with a killer workout will leave you feeling completely energized and ready to tackle anything. You’ll feel healthy, glowey and completely energized rather than having that dull, tired, burnt out feel that Monday’s often bring out. So, try it. Set that alarm an hour earlier and, even when you want to sleep in – will yourself out of the bed. Your body and mind will thank you later.

#2. Combat that Monday morning, too much weekend lethargy with a big glass of lemon water. Sometimes the weekend gets you so far off your normal routine, that Mondays often become a time for detoxifying the body. And, one of the best ways to do that? Sounds simple, but a big glass of water and lemon will really do the trick. Try switching out one cup of coffee for your refreshing and hydrating lemon water – you’ll be amazed at just how good it makes you feel.

#3. Spend some time Sunday evening prepping for Monday morning. When Monday’s are totally hectic they become an even worse way to start the week. Try combatting that by laying out your Monday outfit the night before, make your lunch the night before and even prep some great healthy breakfast options like overnight oats or overnight chia pudding. Get the coffee maker ready to go, organize your work bag and you’ll be amazed at how smooth Monday morning feels – even if you have to catch a few extra z’s.

#4. Take a walk. If you can’t squeeze in a Monday morning workout, that’s OK – try making the lunch hour a time where you get outside, breathe in some fresh air and get the endorphins pumping with a brisk walk. It will give you that perfect boost of energy you need to get through Monday afternoon – one of the toughest humps of the work week. Ask some gal pals to join you and double bonus – you get a chance to catch up and hear about everyone’s weekends too.

#5. Make Monday your planning day. Get up just a bit early so that you have enough time for a good healthy breakfast – one where you sit down and enjoy your coffee rather than eating and driving during carpool. Spend that time making a list of everything you want to accomplish today. Once you get to work or really get your day started, you’ll already know exactly what you need to do and be ten steps ahead of your typical Monday disorganization. While you’re at it, go ahead and plan your menu for the week too – this will ensure healthy eating all week long.

There’s nothing quite as fulfilling as a super productive day and when you can make Monday work for you rather than against you, that’s setting up your whole week for success. Who can ask for anything more?
