It’s easy to fall into the trap of routine. To have a job that you do, five days a week for eight hours a day without even thinking about it. You find yourself feeling robotic and rehearsed. But what if all that could change? What if you could turn your passion into your job and never feel like a robot again.
You may not believe me, but it happens. It happened to me when I least expected it. It happened to me when my companies were born. Suddenly I found myself no longer working for someone else. I was working for me. Making decisions that directly affected me and learning that every path I chose would have long-lasting results. It changed my life.
But don’t let me allow you to think it was easy. It wasn’t. We made many sacrifices and there were challenges. But, here’s the thing – getting out there and forming that business was me choosing me and every failure along the way has contributed to every break through, every success. And, that’s why I believe failure can be your greatest teacher.
Why Failure Can Be Your Greatest Teacher
If you’re scared to get out there, you should be! The world is a scary place. Especially when you’re venturing out on your own or chasing a dream that seems so far away. You’re going to fail. But each time that happens, you’ll learn. And, you’ll pick yourself right back up. Failure is part of success. Amongst all the failure, you’ll also have breakthroughs and those breakthroughs will lead to big ideas. JR and I went through a lot of breakdowns to have breakthroughs. We didn’t have money when we started. We shared one jacket, one car, and ate at the Wendy’s salad bar on date nights. But we had a vision. And we treated it like a million dollar company when it was barely making a thousand dollars.
The bottom line: if you have passion, nothing will stop you from achieving your goals. You’re probably asking yourself how I know this. I do because I’ve lived it – for more than 20 years. We didn’t develop a company that made a single product, had success and then stopped. We’ve developed hundreds, maybe even thousands of products over the years. Some have been wildly successful right out of the gate. Some have been epic failures. Some produced mediocre results at best. But we’ve pushed through each and every time. Even when times seemed tougher than ever. Breakdowns can create breakthroughs. In order to have a breakthrough, you need to have a breakdown.
Once you have that breakthrough, your life will never be the same. You’ll be so excited to get up, get out there and show the world what you can do. Ideas will flow through you non-stop and your vision, the one that felt like a dream – will suddenly become a reality. You won’t believe your eyes, but you’ll be over the moon, and the motivation to keep on going, keep on creating, keep on turning your dreams into reality – you won’t be able to hold back. People often ask me, ‘Did you ever think you’d be here today?’ And I always tell them that I never stopped to think. I just kept going. So, what are you waiting for? Do something great while you’re living. Feed your soul with passion and drive. And, do it now.
I leave you with this video and this last word: Don’t ever just settle for where you’re at. Because somebody’s always watching you.
