What’s your secret to success? We all have our little secrets with the way we get things done. Whether we move through to do lists each and every day or we operate in some kind of organized chaos, something special works for everyone. But, some of the best tricks of the trade come in the form of little tips, lessons and guidance you pick up along the way.
For me, the secret to success means a number of different things – ranging from the way I get things done to the people I surround myself with. But, no matter what, I also hold true to my dreams. Curious how I prioritize? Here’s a little insight to the question I get asked most.
Monday Motivation: Sharing My Secrets to Success
I do the hardest things first every day. I need to get them out of the way in order to have control over my time. After those needs are done, I can do whatever I want at my leisure. For me, this works because once I make it through those difficult or not so fun tasks, I know that the rest of the day is open to whatever I want it to be. Getting the difficult things done first is a pretty wide range – it’s anything from getting through a grueling workout to dealing with a difficult situation with my business. Sometimes it’s tough to face the hard things first – it can be intimidating and a bit nerve-racking, but once you get through it, boy do you feel good! Next up, you can take a deep breath, pat yourself on the back and get to the good stuff.
I only surround myself with positive people. I survey my environment constantly and make sure that only those who are supportive and lift me up are the ones around me. This is a huge one for me and a lesson it took me a while to learn. I used to surround myself with all sorts of people – even the friends and connections who would bring me down. I finally learned that I don’t have to spend my time with anyone who doesn’t support me – why bother? Bringing negative energy into my life doesn’t do anything to support my success, but rather it holds me back instead. I want to feel loved, supported and as though I’m surrounded by good vibes each and every day – it’s what drives me and keeps me energized and motivated! Remember that. You don’t have to let anyone bring you down and you get to decide who and how you spend your time.

I set dates to hit my goals and I hold myself accountable. This is a big one because holding yourself accountable makes all the difference when it comes to achieving your goals, especially the tough ones. It’s easy to throw your hands up in the air, walk away and not follow through when the going starts to get tough. But, if you stick to a plan, align achievable goals and hold yourself to that plan, you’ll be amazed at the outcome. YOU are the only one who can achieve the level of success you want for yourself – no one else can make that happen – and that means hard work and lots of it.
I am not afraid to do what others haven’t done and I do not let others influence my thinking that something can’t be done. “I can’t” is simply not in my vocabulary. Why would “can’t” ever be a part of your vocabulary – how could you ever achieve new things if your first reaction was to say you weren’t able to do something? Your first steps should always be “I can” or “I’ll give it a try,” because you never know what the outcome may be. It’s on you to push yourself harder and farther than you ever thought possible – that’s how you turn dreams into reality and that’s how your ideas become actions.
So, what do you have to lose? What can you take from here and add to your bucket of secrets to success that will help you achieve the goals you’re ultimately after?
