The NC gay marriage ban or Amendment One, has passed. Tuesday evening, North Carolina voters approved the amendment to ban gay marriage. The NC gay marriage ban passed with a 61%-39% margin according to CNN. The amendment, also known as Amendment One, would make marriage between a man and a woman the only legal domestic union accepted in the state. Civil unions between couples are not accepted. Protesters supporting the anti-gay marriage ban, supported the vote with “marriage is between one man, one woman” posters. The argument for marriage equality now includes the voices of individuals in civil unions. A main concern is that health benefits will now be lost between partners as well as for the children who are adopted into same sex households. There are so many people that are affected in these decisions. The fight for marriage equality continues on. What do you think about the ban on gay marriages in North Carolina? Did you vote yesterday?
