It’s officially summer and Independence Day celebrations are being planned for a wonderful long weekend. As you gear up for the warm weather, plan for some refreshing beverages to sip on poolside, at the beach, or at your backyard BBQ. Wherever you’re celebrating, these recipes are sure to dazzle your guests; they’re as pretty as they are delicious. Cheers!
Patriotic Cocktail Recipes
1) Blue Lemonade with Watermelon Stars
INGREDIENTS
Lemonade
- 6 lemons
- 6 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
Cocktail
- Lemonade (our recipe or your own)
- Watermelon
- 2-inch star cookie cutter
- Lollipop sticks
- Blue food coloring (for the kid-friendly mocktail version)
- Maui Blue Hawaiian Schnapps (for the adult cocktail version – you can also use vodka and blue curacao liquor)
DIRECTIONS
To make the lemonade, squeeze the juice from the lemons and strain to remove seeds. Pour the juice into a pitcher and add the water and sugar. Stir well and chill.
To make the cocktail, cut watermelon into slices about 3/4-inch thick. Then, cut out stars using the star cookie cutter and insert a lollipop stick into the bottom of each one. Set aside.
For the adult version, pour about six ounces of lemonade into a glass.Top with two ounces of Maui Blue Hawaiian Schnapps or one ounce each of vodka and blue curacao liquor. Stir with a watermelon pop.
To garnish, simply add a watermelon star, stuck firmly on the end of a white lollipop stick to create a unique stirrer, and you have your drinks covered for the 4th of July.
2) Red, White and Blueberry Spritzer
1½ oz. VeeV Açaí Spirit
1 oz. sliced strawberries
3 oz. club soda
2 oz. Vita Coco Coconut Water
Garnish: blueberries
Place strawberries in the bottom of a highball glass. Add ice, VeeV, club soda, and coconut water. Garnish with blueberries on top, and stir.
3) Firecracker Cocktails (3 Recipes)
1. Simply dampen the edges of your glass with lemon juice. If you have trouble with the pop rocks clumping or sticking, you can try dipping them in a thin layer of caramel (but only use a small amount).
2. Then dip the rims into a plate filled with the pop rocks of choice.We love theTropical Blue color for a patriotic blue color that is perfect when paired with acranberry cocktail for the 4th of July!
You can also simply drop the POP ROCKS into your cocktail for a festive FIZZLE!
POP ROCKS ON THE BEACH
1/2 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Midori melon liqueur
1/2 oz Chambord raspberry liqueur
3 splashs Pineapple juice
Drop Watermelon Pop Rocks on top
STRAWBERRY POPPER ROCKER
1 shot Strawberry Schnapps
Fill with 7-Up
Drop Strawberry Pop Rocks on top
MALIBU POP ROCKS
1 oz Malibu rum
1 oz Blue Curacao
1 splash Pineapple juice
1 splash Cranberry juice
Drop Fruit Punch Pop Rocks on top
4) Red, White and Blue Sangria
White Wine Sangria
1 bottle white wine (not too dry)
1 pint strawberries, cut into quarters
1 pint blueberries
1 pint raspberries
1 red apple, sliced
1 bottle sparkling water (Voss, Pellegrino)
In a large pitcher, combine wine and fruit. Stir gently and let chill at least overnight. Serve with a splash of sparkling water.
