Play Time!

Did you get just as excited as I did when reading the title
of this post?! I hope so. We tend to associate the word “play” with our
childhood, but the reality is play is just as important in adulthood. I know
you’re thinking, “Loren, I have no time to play.” And the idea of taking time
out of your busy schedule is more stressful than relaxing. But trust me,
detaching from your responsibilities for one day or a few hours will bring out
creativity and prevent you from burning out.

My family and I just spent a few days in Europe, which gave
us the opportunity to unplug from our day-to-day responsibilities—well, at
least a little bit! But even just being in a new setting and witnessing the
beauty of a new country reenergized me with a slew of new creative ideas. And
your play time does not have to be as extravagant as a trip to another country.
Play time can be something simple and fun like going to pumpkin patch to buy a
pumpkin for Halloween or planning a picnic with friends.

Whatever “play” may mean to you, promise yourself you’ll
take some time to do so. The benefits completely surpass the negatives. And
it’s usually when we are the busiest when we truly need a burst of fun in our
lives. So, if you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, step away from the
computer and go play!!

Love,

Loren
