International Women’s Day has been recognized since 1913 and was founded on the ideal of equal rights for both men and women. While we have certainly progressed in the 21st century, there is still (sadly) much improvement to be made when in comes to gender equality. Our successes as individuals only strengthen the core values of International Women’s Day and if you have any doubts about going after your dreams, I urge you to ignore them. Visualize your destiny and stay focused on all that you can achieve.
There is simply no place for discrimination against women at work, in politics, in the home; we must keep our momentum and never give up on encouraging, helping and most importantly CELEBRATING one another. What has now become a global movement, here are a few inspiring International Women’s Day quotes that I hope you will share with your family, friends and co-workers today.
Quotes to Celebrate International Women’s Day 2013
- “In all realms of life it takes courage to stretch your limits, express your power, and fulfill your potential.” – Suze Orman
- “Whatever you do, be different – that was the advice my mother gave me, and I can’t think of better advice for an entrepreneur. If you’re different, you will stand out.” – Anita Roddick
- “Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.” – Ella Fitzgerald
- “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
- “I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity.” – Gilda Radner
