Reasons-to-Start-Meditating

Sometimes one of the best (and most simplistic) things we can do for ourselves is find a way to stay centered. Having a few moments each day of quiet, stillness and reflection can set the tone for the rest of the week – offering a sense of grounding and purpose. Finding that time and that moment of peace is often the most difficult part – so how about including a few minutes of meditation into your day? Believe it or not, there are proven positive effects of meditation including reduced stress, better sleep and even loads more energy – so why not give it a shot? If you’re feeling skeptical or you’re simply not sure if meditation is for you, here’s a look at a few good reasons to meditate – you can even get started today.

5 Reasons to Start Meditating

1. Stress reduction. There’s nothing worse than feeling stressed to the max. When you’re burning the candle at both ends, just trying to keep it all together – finding a simple and easy way to reduce stress is huge. Making meditation a part of your daily routine can help set the tone for putting stress at bay each day. Think about making a quick meditation part of your morning routine to help start each day on a stress-free and grounded foot.

2. Re-energizing. If it’s more energy you’re after, meditation really is an excellent solution. Even just a few minutes a day, gives your body and mind a break from all the stressors and distractions in life that seem to bring you down and make you feel overwhelmed. When you have the opportunity to strip away all the noise in your mind and just breathe, it’s completely invigorating.

3. Losing Weight. Turns out meditation can actually help you lose weight by giving you the tools to control things like eating due to stress or boredom. When you’re using meditation to help control stressors, you’re also giving yourself the ability to control certain aspects of your life that may have previously felt out of your control. Knowing when and what to eat can easily help you lose weight by reducing those times when you mindlessly munch on snacks and other unnecessary foods.

4. Unleash Creativity. Meditation has an incredible power to give you quiet and peace, but also let your imagination sore. When you have time set aside that isn’t clouded by email, phone calls and the laundry list of to-do’s you have each day, your creative side has time to think. When you feel stalled or stuck on a creative project, spend a few minutes meditating – you’ll be surprised at just how free your creative mind will feel.

5. Overall Wellness. Adding meditation to your daily routine will help you sleep better, be more focused throughout the day and as mentioned earlier, will help lift that shroud of stress that often hangs over us. By making all these parts of our day-to-day more manageable, a sense of overall wellness increases, making everything feel just a little bit better and easier to cope with.

Have you ever tried making meditation part of your daily routine? Did it help put things in perspective?
