Wow, you guys – the coolest new app recently came on the scene – and it was made to help you feel safe. (what a nice sentiment!) Called SafeTrek and working in conjunction with the GPS in your phone, it helps you walk home with confidence. Here’s how it works:
SafeTrek: The Safety App That Lets You Walk With Confidence
- Download the App
- When you feel unsafe, launch the app and hold down the “safe” button
- When you have arrived at your destination and you feel safe, type in your pin (this will halt GPS and will exit the app)
- In an emergency – release the safe button. If you don’t enter your pin within 10 seconds, the police will be notified
Developed to help users be proactive about community safety, this app is great for students walking across campus late at night or coming home from the bus after a long day at work. I would use Safetrek to walk through an unfamiliar neighborhood, would you?
