With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I can’t help but think of all the things my mom used to say to me and all the things I’ve said to my own daughter throughout her life. Although I lost my mother over 20 years ago, when you become a mom yourself, you find that everything your own mother has instilled in you in there somewhere, still ingrained in the woman that you are. As moms we want what’s best for our children. Sometimes that comes in forms of endearment and sometimes it comes in life lessons that seem harsh in the moment; but as we grow older and have babies of our own, we begin to understand that many of mom’s sayings actually do ring true. Take a look below at some things your mother used to say that as an adult you now find saying to your own children. Feel free to share your faves – in honor of all the moms out there.
Am I talking to a brick wall?
If you could stay out last night, you can get up this morning.
Who said life was going to be easy?
You can’t judge a book by its cover.
Don’t touch that; you don’t know where it’s been.
When you have kids of your own you’ll understand.
I don’t care what “everyone” is doing. I care what YOU are doing!
Life isn’t fair.
Money does NOT grow on trees.
Eat your vegetables, they’re good for you.
You’ll understand when you’re older.
Be good.
You will always be my baby.
How about you, what sayings did your mother tell you growing up that now ring true?
