Have you ever taken a moment to think about what makes smart people smart? Or more importantly how smart people learn? We all learn differently and are all smart in our own way. Some of us enjoy learning from books and some from experience, but we each have our own learning style. Since we are constantly learning, and our need and desire to learn never really ends, staying open to new ideas and new ways of learning is super important. Here are my techniques for staying smart by doing the things smart people do!
Stay Smart by Doing the Things Smart People Do
- Find something interesting in everything you learn and urge yourself to learn more. Use your natural curiosity to open yourself to new ideas.
- Quiet the voice in your head. You know the one. The voice that is thinking about the next thing to say or a way to come back to what you’re hearing. That voice prevents you from openly listening and learning all you can.
- Focus on the process, not the person. If you are having a tough time learning from a particular individual, focus on what he or she has to teach you, not the person him or herself.
- Learn to be your own devil’s advocate. Challenge yourself to go against the grain.
Those are my methods for staying open and learning all I can, what are yours?
