The Meaning Of Your Dreams

For many of us, our dreams are like a window into what’s going on in our lives. From stressful times with family or work to the happiest occasions on the horizon, we often reflect our day-to-day in our dreams. With so much of our time spent in dreamland, it’s no surprise that curiosity often takes over on this front. Whether your dreams are vivid and action-packed or vague recollections, understanding your dreams is important. Here’s a look at some common dreams and their meanings.

  1. A pretty common dream includes issues with or recognition of your teeth. When you dream about losing a tooth or multiple teeth, it may represent fear and anxiety about something happening in your life.
  2. What about babies? If you dream of babies, it could most certainly mean it’s time to think about adding a baby to your family, but if you’re not ready for that – a baby could simply represent starting fresh.
  3. Death, while probably not a common occurrence in your dreams, can mean you’re coming to terms with the death of a loved one or it’s simply representative of a time of change.
  4. Food in dreams has come to represent the idea of knowledge and learning as it nourishes the body like learning feeds the brain.
  5. When animals enter our dreams, sometimes we are simply enjoying their company – and that can represent a connection with the natural world, but sometimes we are being chased. This can represent some sort of aggression, stress or even fear.
  6. Dreaming about your hair can be representative of the fear of becoming unattractive or even going bald. While dreaming about cutting your hair has been known to correlate with a loss of libido.
  7. When your hands are present and noticeable in your dreams, take note – are you washing them or are they tied up in any way. Washing your hands can mean letting go of guilt while having your hands tied could be more representative of feeling trapped or unsure how to take the next step (perhaps in your career or love life).
  8. We often have the sensation of falling in our dreams and that can mean anything from learning to let go of stress and anxiety to failure or even the sense of lost control.
  9. Many of us dream about running away from something or being chased, which in dreamland can be a reflection of threat or stress.
  10. Sex in your dreams is extremely common and can be taken pretty literally – as in a desire to be intimate with a particular person or could even be more interpretive, like symbolizing self-awareness.

What are your most common dreams? Have you been able to associate these symbols with things happening in your life?
