Things College Won’t Teach You About Your Career

Doing well in school to head straight for college is a goal for many people. Parents, grandparents and guardians wish only the best for their children and that often includes a college education. Going to college is an incredible opportunity (don’t forget that!). But there are some things college won’t teach you about your career. Life lessons often come from experience – and those are usually the ones that carry us through a lifetime of successes!

Things College Won’t Teach You About Your Career

  • Most likely your grades won’t matter in the working world. While you should definitely try your best, you probably will not have to provide your transcript at work.
  • Sometimes experience holds more clout than education. Great training comes from experience and that holds value.
  • There is an incredible opportunity for networking in college.  Don’t forget to network while you are still in college – it will help you find a job!
  • You don’t have to work in the field you received your degree in. There are so many jobs out there – you can do whatever you set your mind to.
  • You can change your mind and make a career change, it’s ok! Just because you receive a degree in one thing, doesn’t mean you won’t find your passion in another – and that is alright.
