Time Well Spent

Whether you’re an
entrepreneur or a working mother, your time becomes one of your most valuable
commodities. It can even be considered a form of currency—for example, if
you’re bartering with other businesses. So if this resource is so precious, we
must not waste it. And I don’t mean you shouldn’t be wasting helping others or
on a creative venture. Being wasteful with your time is spending hours, days
worrying or being negative.

How many times do we find
ourselves overwhelmed with life and instead of focusing on one thing at a time,
we throw our hands in the air and say, “forget it?” Think of all that energy
you spent listening to your mind chatter to the point that it disabled you to
move forward. What a waste of time! And let’s not forget the time we spent
complaining to our significant other about what an awful day we had. If we only
have two hours to spend with our significant other before the day is over, why
spend it talking about something that already made you upset during the day?

The good news is we can
train our minds to not fall into that deep hole of negativity and empty mind
chatter. The minute you start feeling pessimistic, tell yourself “I am so busy
right now, why am I stressing myself with worst-case scenarios?” Promise yourself
you will do something productive when you see yourself spending time on nasty
thoughts. And productive can mean going for a walk or getting lunch with a
friend—it doesn’t have to be work related. Because time spent nurturing our
soul and well-being is time well spent!
