A pretty phenomenal announcement was just made in New York City when Clive Palmer, an Australian mining billionaire, held a press conference to unveil the blueprints for the next Titanic [YUP, you read that correctly). Palmer and his company, Blue Star Line, have set out to build the Titanic II and are prepared for the maiden voyage to launch in 2016! The boat will takeoff from Southhampton, England on a trip bound to New York.
Titanic II to Set Sail in 2016
When it’s completed Titanic II will be slightly longer than the original Titanic and will have 850 cabins. She should be able to accommodate 2,600 passengers and will employ 900 crew members. It will also include 18 lifeboats. The boat is a replica of the original Titanic and will be authentic in design, but will also offer some modern conveniences like air conditioning. And believe it or not, no TVs! It will include original features like Turkish baths, a grand staircase and squash courts. Palmer wants to recreate the whole experience and will even include 1920s era costumes for passengers!
What do you think of the Titanic II, would you hop on board?
