Let’s take a minute to talk about success. I am so blessed that I have the opportunity to live my dreams and make my passions my business. I couldn’t be happier when it comes to my work, but sometimes it’s a challenging road. And it’s been a challenging road getting here. Trust me, I’ve done the work. And I know that when you work for yourself, you cannot rely on anyone else’s vision. It’s yours and yours alone to dream up and transition into real life.
Sometimes having that vision or being able to see how you’ll get from point A to point B is more difficult than anything else – keeping yourself inspired is the name of the game. Here’s a quote from Hellen Keller that’s kept me inspired for years, “The only thing worse than being blind, is having sight but no vision.” I have always taken this to heart. I may not always see everything and every challenge that’s coming my way, but I always have a vision of my dream. I may not know the details behind how we’re going to get there, but I always envision my dreams becoming reality.
How to Turn a Failure into a Success
When you’re out there working on your own, there will be roadblocks, there will be failures and there will be times when learning from your mistakes is the best part of the whole process. But knowing how to pick yourself up, move on and turn those failures into success is the difference between making it happen and walking away. If there’s anything I’ve learned along the way, it’s that you are the only one who has the power to turn your dreams into your everyday life. So what’s stopping you? Here’s a look at five ways to turn failure into success:
When you align your thoughts with the right decisions, you can be successful at anything. You know what you want. You can see that end product, you just aren’t sure how to get there, right? It’s just like anything else in life. The decisions you make along the way will help shape that ultimate end result. So, think strategically. Make well thought out decisions based on the know-how you have in that moment. You cannot see the future, you have to work with what you’ve got – so make the best choices you can with the experience you have at the time – all with the end goal of seeing those dreams become a reality.
Celebrate and support one another. One of the toughest parts of business and life is competition, but working together is typically what gets you to a better and more successful spot. Remember that. You know that old phrase, “Teamwork makes the dream work” – it’s absolutely true. Be mindful of the competition, but be open to working together when the time is right and it makes sense. Working together and supporting one another is one of the best ways to achieve success. You can’t always do it all on your own – and that’s OK. By supporting each other and celebrating each other, the process of growth begins to prosper.
Open your mind to new ways of doing things and new opportunities. For many of us, change is very difficult. But, as it turns out, change is one of the best ways to make forward progress both in life and business. To be open to change, you have to be open to new ideas, new technology and new ways of accomplishing goals – even though it’s tough. The world is changing….rapidly. And, being able to roll with the changes and take them as they come is half the battle. Turns out, when you open your mind and your spirit, you’ll learn things you never even knew were possible.
Whatever you do, remember this: In order to have a breakthrough, you need to break down. Sometimes it takes failures for us to realize the important things in life that we need to accomplish. Failure is a part of success and even the most successful people have seen the darkest places, but they never gave up. Put a plan into action and move forward, do the hardest things first.
