If you haven’t heard by now, this past July the United
Nations formed a new entity, UN Women, to help with their efforts to empower
women and fight for equality around the world. The group will be up and running
come January 2011.
According to its site, UN Women will work towards the
following:

Elimination of discrimination against women and girls.
·
Empowerment of women
- Achievement
of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of
development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
I look forward to keeping up with these efforts, and I hope
you do the same. Sometimes we have to look outside of communities and look at
