Those who know me know that I pretty much live my life online and on-the-go. It’s what made SHOP.COM so successful (I was our ideal client!) and what has created such a brilliantly powerful community on the Motives Instagram feed: running an internet retailer means pretty much loving that accessible, connected, and dynamic lifestyle. And having the right tools do it all. Which is why when AT&T offered me the chance to try out the new BlackBerry Priv (with that fantastic slide-out keyboard!), I was more than happy to take the phone for a spin on my wonderfully hectic life. With over 22 hours of battery life, it seemed like a device up to the challenge. Here’s a look at all the places I took my new Priv and how it helped me juggle a day in the life.
UP AND AT ‘EM: This is where the magic happens (most of the time). After some breakfast and early morning yoga, it’s time to get it going. It’ll be a long day, but this phone comes equipped with a BlackBerry Calendar and a feature that reminds you when it’s time to get on a call; the one-touch button automatically dials you in, so this will be a breeze.
CAPTURING THE MOMENT: This has been our family home for so many years. But I’m still captivated by our surroundings. It’s hard not to feel blessed and grateful when you can wake up to this. Sometimes I share those thoughts with my followers, so I snap a few photos even if I’m just on my way from one task to the next. The gardens are my favorite part, but I love the warmth of our home as well. I snapped a couple of photos, inside and out, and was really impressed with the quality of the shots. The 18 MP camera with dual flash and live filters has everything any social media lover could ever hope for!
CLOSE TO THE HEART: JR and I travel pretty often and we keep crazy schedules, which sometimes means we are as far in physical distance as separate continents. But we always make it a rule to call each other as often as possible and catch up on our day. It’s one of the things that keeps our marriage so strong – constant communication! The BlackBerry Priv has Natural Sound combined with 3 microphones, so it sounds like we’re in the same room when we’re catching up. It’s the next best thing.
A GREAT VIEW: If you’ve been following my social media, you know I’m a big fan of interior design and have had my focus on our new house in Puerto Rico as well as have been updating our home in Miami Beach. They say you need to gain perspective when you’re working so closely on a project, so I snapped this photo of our living room in progress to get a good view at how everything has been falling into place. The large screen (5.4 inches with 4 x the amount of pixels of a standard HDTV) helps capture the view perfectly. What do you think of the black & white theme?
HANDS ON: I recently took a cooking class with the whole family to try to pick up some pointers from the pros. There’s nothing like a great meal, right? Thanks to the expandable memory with the micro SD card slot on the back of the phone, I am able to take pics and videos of the action so I have it all accessible when I try to make a dish on my own.
SMART SHOPPING: People always ask me what my trick is to getting the best deals (seriously, shopping smart is a way of life for me) and I always tell them it’s a result of putting in the effort. The trick is actually going out to stores, trying things on for fit and checking them for quality. Then, I always go through SHOP.COM and buy the item with Cashback. Pretty smart, right? I took the Priv with me on one of my recon trips and with access to over one million apps on the Google Play store, I was able to pull up my SHOP.COM app and get to those rewards fast! That’s how you do it, ladies!
MOTIVES: I think Motives will always feel more like fun than work to me. I mean, I’m a huge fan of the brand myself! I love testing and wearing the products we develop for makeup lovers, pro and novices alike, and making sure they’re accessible to everyone via our website. As I worked on ideas for our new reveals coming up in February, I took the chance to poke around the site and take that wonderfully click-y keyboard for a spin. I loved how swift and responsive each key button was and how it never felt tiny or clunky. It has a feature called SmartSlide that lets it safely and securely slide out when you need it. The keyboard is also touch enabled, which means you can use it to scroll through web pages. Very cool!
BLOG LIFE: One of my favorite things about running Loren’s World is being able to share bits of my life with friends, family, and followers. This particular post (shown below) is from that feature Amber and I did for VOGUE Taiwan. It’s one of my favorite moments. Some people don’t know that I prefer to work late at night so I can have more peace and quiet while I’m at it. As I’m blogging at the end of the day or late into the night, I always keep my phone nearby in case any calls come in from the team or if I need to get in touch with Amber and the kids or JR. The whole point of having this kind of life is being able to share it with those you love. Above anything else, being able to stay in touch is absolutely priceless.
