Life Lessons: 3 Ways To Stop Feeling Guilty

It’s a proven fact that women apologize way more than men do. We say “sorry” for everything. I know I feel guilty even when I’m not involved in asituation. Why do we feel this way? How can we stop feeling so guilty all the time? How do we forgive ourselves? Sometimes, it feels impossible to get out of our heads, but all it really takes it some work and self-reflection. Recognize Your Guilty Feelings- A guilty thought or feeling can come at any time. It can come when you’re thinking or doing something from a place of fear or anxiety. It can come from doing something or choosing to not do something. It can even come irrational thought. Once you can recognize those feelings, you can move on to the next step.

Stop Blaming Yourself- It’s so easy to blame ourselves. Many of us were raised in a culture of blaming. If it’s not someone else’s fault, then it’s our own fault. We need to let go of this self-hate and self blame in order to set our selves free. Decide right here and right now that you are not going to blame yourself anymore. Take a deep breathe and feel liberated.

Remember That You’re Imperfect- You aren’t perfect, despite everything you’ve been taught. In order to let go of those guilty feelings, you need to remind yourself that you are only human and that you are learning. Let go of the past. Let go of the negative and feel free again.
