What Every Working Mom Should Know

Being a mom is one of the hardest jobs a woman will ever have the privilege of doing. But being a working mom has its own separate set of challenges. And for those moms who are trying to balance family and work life, things can get really demanding. When “mom guilt” starts to rear its ugly head, try remembering these five facts. xo

What Every Working Mom Should Know

  1. You can still work and be a good mom. Just because you’re dedicating time to your career does not mean you are not doing your job as a mom. Your kids will want a happy, fulfilled mom. And for some moms, that means following a career path as well as enjoying their home and family life.
  2. You should always carve out some “me” time. Feeling frazzled and skipping out on a few hours to yourself is not the way to share time with the family. They need you at your best. A little bit of time to yourself to read a book, take a walk, or even just taking a long bath can do wonders to recharge your batteries.
  3. Your best is good enough. Don’t worry about trying to be perfect.  Just worry about trying your best. Even if you can’t do it all, do what you can.
  4. It’s always about quality time, not quantity of time. Make that time count. Put down the phone if you’re with the family rather than trying to do work and family time at once. It’s about quality time and that means being fully present when you’re home.
  5. Your kids will love you no matter what. Your kids love you and appreciate you. They don’t need you to be perfect. They just need you to love and care for them while you try your best. And that’s all anybody can ask. Take a moment every once in a while, give them a hug, and be thankful for the time you have together.
