I wanted to share with you what I love about being a woman. Monday night when I watched La La’s Full Court Life, I could not help but smile when I saw the two of us on the small screen. It is amazing what is revealed to you through another lens. I smiled because I saw the fearless and wonderfully creative spirits that live within La La and myself. We are no different than any other woman. We have our mountains to climb and our bridges to cross. Yet, we do so with great persistence and determination. Being a woman carries its burdens but the blessings are immeasurable. What creature on this planet can do what we do?
We are fearless and amazing! What I love about being a woman is that we have the ability to conceptualize an idea and make it become a reality. We conceive children in love and bare them in protective compassion. We pour from our fountain of wisdom that never seems to run out. We take care of families and communities without complaint. We see the justice in situations and stand on our own convictions. We make love, give love and honor love. We stand as the backbone to our men confirming the desires of their heart. We use our hands to build. We use our mouths to empower. We use our minds to inspire.
Look around. You are surrounded by women who are fierce, fabulous and climbing mountains that we thought were too big for us in the past. Ladies, we are beautiful! There is so much more to being a woman, that there are not even enough words to define us. Embrace your womanhood. What I love about being a woman is the fact that I just am… a woman!
