Which Love Language Do You Speak?

Have you heard about the great book The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman? When I first learned about it, I have to admit, I was very intrigued. Chapman teaches couples how to communicate love to their spouse in ways they each can understand; the methods are called “languages.” Everyone is different and just because we love our significant other, it doesn’t mean we love each other in the same way. Even the most healthy relationship can benefit from learning the love languages and using Chapman’s methods to communicate.

Which Love Language Do You Speak?

  • Quality time – An important part of any relationship, Dr. Chapman encourages undivided attention every once in a while.
  • Acts of Service – This love language is like a gift of love for your spouse.
  • Words of Affirmation – This type of communication helps to build your spouse’s self-image and confidence.
  • Physical Touch – This can be the smallest act, like holding hands, but it means a lot to some relationships.
  • Gifts – Even though they don’t have to be expensive, this is an important part of feeling loved for some people.

I think the idea of love languages could really help some people communicate their love in better ways. Have you read the book? How has it helped you?
