Yesterday in Missouri, a grand jury reached their verdict in the case against police Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown, drawing to a close what has been just one part of the tragedy the Brown family has endured since the loss of their son on August 9, 2014. Missouri police officer Darren Wilson fatally shot the 18-year-old, leaving behind him a wake of severe protests in what has been a tumultuous few months for the city of Ferguson and its citizens.
While it’s incredibly difficult to speak on this subject because I cannot even begin to imagine the pain of the loss the Brown family is enduring; nor the gravity of the state of emergency in Ferguson, I can only hope, pray for, and encourage a peaceful rebuttal for everyone who feels the need to take action against the lack of indictment.
The most important thing to remember is that the Brown family has suffered tremendously with the loss of their son Michael Brown (may he rest in peace). Please remember that violence is not the answer regardless of how we feel about the verdict.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Brown family and the Ferguson community during this incredibly difficult time. May you begin to heal and find peace soon.
