Hurricane Irma Passes Through South Florida

Hurricane Imra is in its final phase as a tropical storm after making her way through South Florida. Unfortunately, the Florida Keys are completely flooded at the moment— the good news is that many people from the area evacuated. We’re praying for the area and wishing them the best. Although she’s a tropical storm at this point, Irma is still affecting Florida and Georgia with flooding and high winds.

According to many news outlets, the extent of the storm’s devastation isn’t clear at the moment. Right now, there are 5.8 million homes and businesses without power across Florida and some won’t get electricity for weeks. For some, it’s the worst storm to hit Florida and South Florida. Irma was a large storm with major winds. Storm surging in coastal cities were expected before she hit so it’s only a matter of time before we learn of her true damage.

Now, it’s all about rehabilitation. Florida, especially South Florida, has been our home for many years. We have high hopes that things will go back to normal soon enough. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with you, Florida. We didn’t take a hit like Houston did, but it’s enough devastation to bruise us. I look forward to seeing things go back to normal in the state.

Here’s some ways to help those affected by Hurricane Irma:

Donate to the America Red Cross.

Donate to the South Florida Wildlife Center.

Donate to Save the Children

If you’re in the South Florida area, there are ways to volunteer with the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster.

Stay safe out there, guys.
