Las Vegas Shooting – The Latest News

I was absolutely heartbroken to see this morning’s news about the shootings that occurred last night in Las Vegas. It’s such an awesome and lively city and one that provides so much fun, entertainment and tourism – it’s awful to imagine such a horrific scene. While officials continue to sift through the details, the best thing we can do is be sure all of our family and friends are safe and accounted for. If you have any loved ones in the area, Facebook has activated a safety check for the area.

Las Vegas Shooting – The Latest News

It’s been reported by Las Vegas police that the shooter has been killed, however they are still looking for a companion of the suspect. See below for a detailed update via CNN:

What’s happened: At least 20 people were killed and more than 100 injured in a shooting outside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip during a music festival on Sunday night. Shots were being fired from the 32nd floor of the resort, according to police. Country singer Jason Aldean was performing at the time.

What we know about the suspect: Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said one suspect described as a “local resident” has been killed; they don’t believe there are any other shooters. Police said they are interested in talking to a woman they named as Marilou Danley, described as a companion of the suspect. She is not named as a suspect.

What we know about the victims: Off-duty police officers are among the dead, according to LVMPD Sheriff Joe Lombardo. Their identities have not been released. Two police officers are also being treated for injuries — one officer is in critical condition and the other has minor injuries.

My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with all of the victims, rescue workers, police and anyone else having to witness this terrible violence. When it hits this close to home, it’s especially difficult to wrap our minds about the state of the world, all the violence out there and the hate that drives heinous acts. We live in a world that’s filled with so much good – the type we need to see more of each day – and, violence like this is just not necessary. Let’s all band together and promise to showcase the good whenever we can and send prayers, love and energy to those picking up the pieces in Las Vegas today.
