We are all rooting for our favorite star of the hit HBO series Girls, Lena Dunham, who made headlines this weekend when (according to CNN) she was “hospitalized and will undergo surgery for a ruptured ovarian cyst.” A fan favorite in many households and among many young women, Dunham is known for her public solidarity when it comes to taking a stance against body issues for women, her own comedic independence and sharing her creative spirit with the world. She’s an inspiration to women around the globe, most recently speaking up when her cover image on El Pais magazine was Photoshopped, to change the look of her actual figure. She has also “been very public with her personal bouts with endometriosis,” taking to social media to discuss her health issues.
In early February, Dunham took to Facebook to have a heart-to-heart with fans, letting them know she’s taking a little time off from “Girls” to deal with medical issues and rest. Here’s what she said:
Hey Beloved Pals,I just wanted to let you know that, while I am so excited for Girls to return on Feb 21, I won’t be…

We’re all rooting for Lena to get through surgery, heal and make a full recovery so that she can get back to her day-to-day social media musings and of course, back to the set of Girls. According to CNN, “Endometriosis occurs when tissue that lines the uterus is found outside of the uterus.” It can be a chronic and painful condition – something you should certainly talk to your own doctor about.
Sending good thoughts and vibes Lena’s way – we all want to see her feeling great and back on set as soon as she’s feeling great.
