Over the past several hours, the country has awoken to a deadly shooting in Dallas being considered the deadliest attack on enforcement officers since 9/11. Just hours after the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, police officers in Dallas were attacked via sniper during an otherwise peaceful protest in their city. At the time of this post, eleven officers have been shot and five have been confirmed dead. Three suspects are in police custody and one identified as 25-year-old Micah Xavier Johnson of Mesquite, Texas, has been killed in a standoff with police.

On a personal note, it has become increasingly difficult to watch the news lately. It seems that every day there is something tragic happening in our country and it’s heartbreaking to watch. Absolutely crushing. Over the last two months, we have seen a terrorist attack in Orlando, the shooting of Christina Grimmie that same weekend, the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, and this attack on the officers of Dallas. At which point is enough just enough? This country was founded on embracing our differences and coexisting despite them. We need to love and respect each other and uphold the value of human life. Let’s not forget that every single life matters. I pray for peace during these hard times, for the families, for the victims’ families, and for everyone in this country who can’t hardly take watching another tragic event unfold. God bless.
