It is with a heavy heart that I write this to remember my dear friend Dr. Fredric Brandt. He was known for his work as a dermatologist to a long list of celebrities as well as for his respected skincare line. But I will remember him most as my talented friend, the one who used to sing to me and tell me stories every time I found myself in the graces of his gifted hands. For twenty years I had the honor of knowing him and will always remember his kind spirit, vast knowledge, and beautiful soul. Those hands were magic to me and so many. But his heart was pure gold.
At 65, Dr. Brandt leaves behind a great legacy. Throughout his prolific career, he dedicated his profession to giving beautiful skin to his faithful patients. He was a bit of a pioneer, often experimenting on himself to be sure of the products and treatments he was developing before trying them on his clientele. Known for his inquisitive nature, Brandt was one of the first to adopt the use of Botox and was a big supporter of injectable solutions to offer surgery-free options to his patients.
Because of his advances in cosmetic dermatology, Brandt made a longstanding career with a successful practice in Manhattan, as well as one in Coral Gables, FL. and his skincare line, Dr. Brandt was widely successful. Throughout his career, his talent and accomplishments allowed him to count the likes of Madonna and Stephanie Seymour among his loyal patients. And he will always be endearingly known as a magician to the stars. He was found in his Miami home yesterday, ending his accomplished tenure as a dermatologist, researcher, lecturer, radio host, and author. He will be greatly missed. This news came as a heartbreaking reality and even now I can deeply feel how much you’ll be missed. The world lost one of the most amazing beauty innovators ever and an incredible person. You will be missed by me and so many who had the opportunity to know you and love you. In the wake of this tragedy, it hurts to imagine not seeing your wonderful face singing to me as always in your office with your beautiful soul and funny stories. Be at peace now. Heaven has received a beautiful angel.
